West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) W.B.C.S.(Exe) , is a competitive examination conducted by Public Service Commission, West Bengal, every year for recruitment to various Civil Services like- Deputy Magistrate, Deputy Collector and Block Development Officers (B.D.O.) of the Government of West Bengal. The Preliminary Examination is a screening test to shortlist candidates for further selection process. Question asked in this examination are objective in nature. Preliminary Examination is likely to be conducted on the fourth week of January every year (approximately). It consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries 1 mark. Thus, the paper will carry 200 marks. The Exam will be of 2 1/2 hrs. duration.
Only the aspirants who qualify the Preliminary Examination would be eligible to apply for the Mains Examination. This particular examination is both objective and subjective in nature. Mains Examination is likely to be conducted in September every year (approximately). This exam consists of 6 Compulsory Papers and 2 Optional Papers. All the Papers whether Compulsory or Optional will carry 200 marks. The exam will be of 3 hrs. duration. Paper I, Paper II will be subjective in nature. Rest of the Compulsory papers will be objective in nature. The two Papers of the Optional subjects i.e. Paper VI & Paper VII shall be subjective in nature.
