About Drugs Rules (Eleventh Amendment) 2026 

Notified under the Drugs Rules, 1945, to empower licensing authorities to temporarily or permanently debar applicants who submit fake, fabricated, or misleading data.

Objective of the amendment: To deter malpractice, strengthen accountability among applicants, and ensure regulatory approvals rest on reliable, scientifically valid evidence rather than fabricated data  

Applicability: Applies uniformly to applications under the Drugs Rules, 1945, covering both State Drug Control Authorities (DCAs) and Central licensing authorities — debarment can be enforced at either level depending on which authority the false data was submitted to.

Regulatory changes: Introduces debarment as an additional penalty, layered on top of the pre-existing powers of application rejection and licence cancellation, making the punitive framework three-tiered.
