Civil Services Exam is a three-tiered examination viz. Prelims, Mains and the Interview. Out of these Mains has 7 papers that is 21 hours of exam, and the format that UPSC has been following  more or less the same for the past 5 years.

This article explains UPSC Mains subjectwise weightage analysis

Each paper is of 250 marks. The pattern as of now has been 10 questions of 10 marks each to be answered in 150 words and 10 questions of 15 marks each to be answered in 250 words.

The objective of this analysis is to give the aspirants an insight to the relative UPSC mains subjectwise weightage analysis. This way they can strategize their preparation smartly. The given weightage is subjective in nature. For example in GS III, a question on role of agriculture in economic development can be taken in agriculture or it may be taken in economic development. The idea behind the analysis is to give students the relative weightage of each subject so that they can plan their preparation accordingly.
