Putting an end to all the speculations and rumours that were going around regarding the postponement of the exam and staying true to its ‘unpredictable’ nature, UPSC has released the admit card for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 on September 1 on its official website. Usually the admit cards are released 3 weeks before the exam.

The exam is scheduled to be conducted on October 4, 2020. Previously, the exam was set to be held on 31st May, however, due to COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed.

All those candidates who had applied for the exam and later withdrew their candidature, can view their registration numbers in the list uploaded by UPSC.
How to download UPSC CSE 2020 Prelims Admit Card?
• Visit the official website at upsc.gov.in.
• Click on the link given on ‘What’s New’ section on the home page.
• Read the instructions carefully.
• After reading the instructions, download them and click yes on the end of the page.
• It is mandatory for the candidate to take print out of ‘IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE’ before downloading the e-ADMITCARD and bring the same along with this e-ADMITCARD to be permitted to enter the examination hall. Click Here for Exam Instructions.
• Enter the required details (registration number/ roll number and date of birth).
• Press submit.
• Your UPSC Civil Services prelims admit card 2020 will be displayed on the screen.
• Download and take its print out.
• Save it on your e-mail account etc to avoid last day anxiety and rush.

What to do in case of any discrepancy in admit card?
• Check the e-Admit Card carefully and bring discrepancies, if any, to the notice of the UPSC immediately.
• Mention your Name, Roll Number, Registration ID, Name and Year of the Examination in all the correspondence with the UPSC.
• In case of any problem in downloading e-admit card for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 or discrepancy noticed in the e-admit card , may please be informed in detail on e-mail: web-upsc@nic.in (For Technical Problem) , uscsp-upsc@nic.in (For Applicant Data Problem).

Important Instructions for the examination venue:

Bring the e-Admit Card (print out) along with the (original) Photo Identity Card, whose number is mentioned in the e-Admit Card, in each session to secure admission to Examination Hall.
• Candidates should note that any omission/ mistake/ discrepancy in encoding / filling in details in the OMR answer sheet, especially with regard to Roll Number and Test Booklet Series Code, will render the answer sheet liable for rejection.
Please note that entry into the Examination Venue shall be closed 10 minutes before the schedule commencement of the Examination i.e. 09:20 AM for the Forenoon Session and 02:20 PM for the Afternoon Session. No candidate shall be allowed the entry into the Examination Venue after closure of the entry.
• Candidates are advised to enter the Examination Venue well in time for frisking.
• Candidates should note that they shall not be allowed to appear at any other Examination Venue except the Examination Venue mentioned in the e-Admit Card.
• Read the ‘Special Instructions for candidates admitted to the Examination’ given in the ‘Rules for the Examination’ available in Examination Notice and the ‘Poster’ containing instructions displayed outside the Examination Venue.
• Your candidature to the Examination is provisional.
• Candidate should not be in possession of or using any mobile phone (even in switched off mode), pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive, smart watches, etc., or camera or Bluetooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories either in working or switched off mode capable of being used as a communication device during the examination. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future Examinations.
Use of normal or simple wrist watches by candidates is allowed inside the Examination Rooms/ Halls. However, use of watches fitted with any special accessory that might be used as communication device or smart watches is strictly prohibited and candidates are not allowed to take such watches into the Examination Rooms/ Halls.
There will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in both the question papers of the Examination.
Answers other than those made by Black Ball Point Pen will not be evaluated.
• Candidates are advised not to bring any valuables/ costly items and bags to the Examination Venue, as safe keeping of the same cannot be assured. The Commission will not be responsible for any loss.
Candidates who do not have clear photographs on the e-Admit Card will have to bring a photo identify proof and two passport size photographs one for each Session for appearing in the Examination with an undertaking.
• Candidates, who have opted for their own scribe, may note that their own scribe will be allowed for the Examination only with a separate e-Admit Card for such scribe. The e-Admit Cards for the own scribes will be issued separately.

COVID related Instructions:

Wearing of mask/face cover is mandatory for all candidates. Candidates without mask/face cover will not be allowed entry into the Venue.
• Candidates, however, will have to remove their masks for verification, whenever required by the Examination functionaries.
• Candidate may carry his/her own hand sanitizer (small size) in transparent bottle.
• Candidates to follow COVID 19 norms of ‘social distancing’ as well as ‘personal hygiene’ inside the Examination Halls/Rooms as well as in the premises of the Venue.

For all the serious aspirants, only 30 odd days are left for the exam to occur. All of you have prepared for at least a year now. This is not the time for speculation/ believing in rumour mongering/ being anxious. Remember Prelims stage of this prestigious exam is most tricky. In these last 30 days, revise as many times as you can. Further, practise mock tests along with PYQs. These magical things will open the first door towards your dream with ease.
