UPSC CSE 2020 PERSONALITY TEST SCHEDULE RELEASED

Union Public Service Commission released the UPSC CSE Mains result 2020 on March 23 at the official website- upsc.gov.in. UPSC Civil Services Mains exam was conducted on January 8, 9, 10, 16 and 17, 2021.

About 2047 candidates out of the 10,500 candidates who had qualified in this exam have now been called for the Personality Test (Interview) for selection to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other Central Services.

The Commission has decided to commence the Personality Tests (Interviews) of Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2020 from 26.04.2021.

The e-Summon Letters of Personality Tests (Interviews) of the candidates can be downloaded from the Commission’s Website https://www.upsc.gov.in,  https://www.upsconline.in

Candidates who have qualified for interview had to fill up and submit a detailed application form which will be available on the website of the UPSC from March 25 to April 5. In this form candidates have to give preference of their services and cadre. These candidates also had to fill up the attestation form and submit it online.

Important instructions for the candidates:

♦ No request for change in the date and time of the Personality Test (Interview) intimated to the candidates will ordinarily be entertained.

♦ Considering the current COVID 19 pandemic situation, the Competent Authority has decided to reimburse the lowest ‘to’ and ‘fro’ air fare for traveling by Air India or any other private Airlines to the outstation candidates for attending interviews/ PT boards subject to the following condition:-

  1. Opt for cheapest flight ticket under economy class among the airlines operating in the concerned sector immediately after downloading the e-summon letter;
  2. Book the air tickets either directly from the Airlines (Booking counters, websites) or through the travel agents authorized by Deptt. of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance viz. Ashoka Tours & Travels, Balmer & Lawrie and IRCTC only; Air
  3. Tickets booked through Private travel agents viz. MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Goibibo, Ease My Trip etc. will not be reimbursed;
  4. The nearest airport will be determined on the basis of the address given by the candidates in their Detailed Application Forms (DAFs).
  5. Bring hard copies of Air Tickets (To & fro journeys) showing the details of air fare along with Boarding Pass (For onward journey only) for reimbursement
  6. Second/ Sleeper class train fare (Mail Express) will be reimbursed if the candidate perform their journey by Rail irrespective of Class in accordance with para 132 of service rule.

♦ Candidates are instructed to strictly adhere to the above conditions while making their travel arrangements for attending the PT Boards of CSE 2020. It may be noted that in case of deviation from the above conditions the TA claims of the candidate may not be considered.

Personality Test:

The candidates who qualify the Mains Examinations are interviewed by a Panel consisting of Members who are usually Expert from different fields chosen by the UPSC. The unbiased Panel assesses whether the Candidate has the personality traits essential for various Civil Services. Questions based on matters of general interest are asked in the interview. The Panel selects Candidates who possess the basic personality traits a civil servant is expected to have. Interview or personality tests for UPSC CSE is conducted for a total of 275 marks.

Questions based on matters of General Interest will be asked in Interview. Personality test assesses candidate’s personal qualities such as alertness of mind, leadership traits, power of clear and logical exposition, intellectual and moral integrity, and candidate’s range of interests.

Points to be taken care of during the interview:

  • Every answer should be a balanced answer. Candidate should refrain from making extreme statements.
  • Be calm and portray moral integrity. Never bluff in the answers.
  • Maintain a positive body language.
  • Dress neatly.
  • Another very important thing is to be honest in the answers. Honest and truthful answers will make one do wonders in the interview rather than ideal or ready made answers.
  • One should portray clarity of thought, understanding while speaking.
  • Answers should be concise and precise.
  • Every answer that a candidate gives should be based on logic, rationality and not bounded by emotions and likewise factors.
