  • The plan has a week by week approach. You are expected to add daily targets as per your own convenience.
  • First week starts from 4th March.
  • Plan has 12 weeks.
  • There will be 5 ‘working’ days in each week i.e. Monday to Friday. (12*5=60 days)
  • With each topic you also need to cover previously asked questions of UPSC.
  • Each weekend i.e. Saturday and Sunday for that week has been fixed for mock test, revision of the task completed in that week and to clear back logs of that week (if any). (12*2=24 days)
  • The last week before the exam has been kept open for you to relax yourselves, have peace of mind and give you best shot on the day. You are expected to give 2 full time UPSC LEVEL mock tests (both GS I and GS II) in these days in exam like environment.
  • Basic sources have been mentioned in the plan.

Plan Your Work

How to analyse you preparation?

This will be a 3 step approach.

STEP 1: Ensuring that the task for a week is completed in that week itself.
STEP 2: Revising and revising.
STEP 3: Analyzing your performance through practice tests.

Here the approach would be:

  • Consider that you give a 100 question UPSC level mock test on every weekend.
  • First you will check your total score, your percentile i.e. your overall performance relative to others. You are expected not to lose hope even if you score low in the few initial tests. The catch is that your performance should be gradually improving with every test. There should be no fluctuations in your performance.
  • Next step would be to check your mistakes. There are 4 types of mistakes (questions not attempted or wrongly attempted) you will face.
    • You simply don’t know the information. You are clueless and that’s why you don’t attempt the question.
IF THE NUMBER OF QUESTIONS FALLING IN THIS CATEGORY ARE MORE THAN 25% there is seriously something wrong with your preparation on the particular subject/topic. You are not doing enough preparation from the required sources.
    • You know the concept but the question is a twisted one and you are not able to apply the concept.
IF THE NUMBER OF QUESTIONS FALLING IN THIS CATEGORY ARE MORE THAN 10% then you need to explore all possible questions in your mind while reading the topic.
    • Anxiety/ fear- you wrongly understood the question, you misinterpreted it, you made silly mistakes like missing important key word or you marked the wrong answer.
IF THE NUMBER OF QUESTIONS FALLING IN THIS CATEGORY ARE MORE THAN 5% then it means that you are either too excited or are not sincere/ diligent enough. You need to improve your concentration and focus.
Mistakes of this type are unpardonable. Remember these 13.33 marks you lost, is like digging your own grave.
    • Risk taking/ intelligent guesswork.
IF THE NUMBER OF QUESTIONS FALLING IN THIS CATEGORY ARE MORE THAN 10% you are taking too many risks and most of them are going wrong. You should not leave chance to fate.

You have 10 days before execution of this plan starts. Analyze it thoroughly. Prepare yourself with the prerequisites. and Remember this is just a blueprint. You can tweak it according to your understanding and convenience.

Plan to Win

If you are able to execute this roadmap then this will make sure you unlock your FIRST HURDLE to reach the FINAL TREASURE. BUT REMEMBER PLAY BY THE RULES AND STICK TO THE PLAN.
